It just didn’t blow me away. It seems to me that Bill is the ultimate CEO style church leader, no question this guy could lead a major corporation and although this is not the only leadership style there is still so much to learn that would help me become a better leader. I suspect that this is the kind of book you probably revisit every so often to pull out a good nugget of truth for whatever leadership stage you find yourself in. Hybels writing style is not enjoyable.
I love the structure of the book.
I’ve been an eager student of Bill Hybels leadership tenets for over a decade when I first attended Global Leadership Summit, as a volunteer at a Northern California satellite location which just happened to be at the church I attended.
An exellent book that I truly enjoyed. I connected it much more with work I’ve been doing at church to start a somethings group. The man is fired up zxiom, I think just three things the local church, evangelism and leadership well possibly sailing as well but he’s not written a book on that yet. The best leaders aren’t perfect, they’re ones that learn from mistakes and are therefore more valuable than ones who haven’t yet had opportunity to make those mistakes.
My only real critique is that I do think some chapters could have been made to be a bit more profound. Or they could’ve been dropped. Some books you read fast and simply enjoy. You can either read this book start to finish as I did I’ve read a few of Bill Hybels’ books now, and a hygels things are blindingly obvious. We usually have to be asked by someone to consider taking it up a level.
