As long as cryptogarphy have high school level math this will take you through symmetric ciphers including DES and AES and then continue into Public Key systems. The information is presented in a very readable format, and cryptohraphy helpful for those looking for a great introduction to the subject of cryptography. I am sure that this makes an outstanding textbook for a college course in the matter, but I want to add that it is so clearly presented, organized with introductions to the necessary math that it works for self-study as well.

He has a Ph. Often I was too eager to get to the new chapter than to work through the problems.
